What is clay pigeon shooting?

Clay pigeons are specially designed saucer-like targets made from pitch which are launched into the air by powerful springloaded machines called traps. Clay pigeon shooting is the art of shooting them out of the sky with a shotgun. A clay ‘target’ is often still referred to as a ‘bird’.

Clay pigeon shooting is currently enjoyed by 9 to 90 year olds of both sexes. Participants in the sport come from a wide variety of social backgrounds with a particular increase in the number of women and children coming into it, making clay pigeon shooting more and more a family orientated sport.

Networking, entertaining & tuition

Networking business contacts and entertaining clients is a regular feature of our monthly events. The members come from all parts of the Lloyd’s market and its close business and professional associates.

Novices & young shots

LSGC encourages the introduction of novice members to the sport of shooting, both for the fun and competition of shooting itself, as well as passing on to the young a taste of countryside pursuits in the company of their parents. We are a friendly bunch and have a lot of fun at our monthly Clay Shooting events from March to September. We don’t guarantee you will win the club trophy first time (although you might!) but we do know you will have a great time and will probably want to carry on doing it in the company of like-minded people.
